If you haven't noticed from my numerous pictures of the Rockies, I am a huge fan of Colorado (but really who isn't?). Now that it has been almost a year since my visit to the awe inspiring state, I am feeling very nostalgic, as I surf through old pictures of my experience. So I thought I would share some images and their stories with you.....
I welcomed the first days with open arms, and a spontaneous energy. Unsure of what this experience would bring, I was open to anything.

My first encounter with Colorado was through the exploration of some small towns outside of Denver with the cutest little hippie stores holding one-of-a-kind pieces. There was no nook or cranny not filled with some rad sculpture or painting.I could have stayed for hours exploring.
On our next Colorado adventure my parents and I set out to see the Red Rock Amphitheater and the surrounding area. Not only was it breathtaking, it felt special to be surrounded by musical history. You know you have made it as a musician if you get the chance to jam on that stage.
In the morning there were so many people working out, and running across the seats. It was such a sight, I wish I had brought my running shoes to join them!

The second and third day of our trip were just pure magic. My mother, father and I explored the cute little town of Manitu right outside of Colorado Springs. The town was simply adorable. Two shops really intrigued me, a local organic grocers and an apothecary. Man do I wish I had those in my town.
The highlight of those days in Manitu, however was visiting The Garden of the Gods. Yes, it is a touristy place, and yes, they have a gift shop in the park, but it is nothing less than magical. If you are ever in that area of Colorado, and don't see the garden of the gods, you are missing out. Now I am going to insert too many pictures of this beautiful place. Next time, I plan on climbing there, I am beyond stoked!
Next we made it to the Manitu Cliff Dwellings. As a HUGE fan of ancient cultures and native peoples, I was very excited to visit the dwellings of the Anasazi people who had lived southwest of Manitu Springs called the "Four Corners" area. I felt like I was walking back in time, it was truly amazing. While there we also browsed through two very interesting museums talking about the lives of the Anasazi tribe and other native peoples. It was very touristy and crowded, but I loved it nonetheless.
After spending time in Colorado Springs and Manitu we headed to Denver than onto Estes Park, a place surrounded by the Rocky Mountain National Park . It was such a beautiful and busy city with plenty to do, see, eat and buy.
No matter how hard it is to choose, hands down, my favorite experience while in Colorado had to be making it to the top of the Rocky Mountains. The view was absolutely surreal. Even though it was stormy, and I was soaked, I wouldn't trade that day for the world. Plus, the storm clouds made for some great photos :-). When life gives you the Rockies, you willingly welcome the clouds.
Fun fact. At the top I belted out Rocky Mountain High at the top of my lungs. Yup, I am that cliche.
